A Mass Effect Recipe Fanzine
Desired Release: November 7th, 2025This zine will feature illustrations of a range of Mass Effect characters enjoying, sharing, cooking, shopping for, and otherwise interacting with recipes from our contributors, and each illustration will include the actual recipe for you to make, too! We hope to have digital merchandise such as printables and phone wallpapers.!! A statement on AmaZine + the future of this zine can be found here. !!

Full Contribution Overview
Contributors are: page artists, writers, merch artists, and, of course, recipe contributors.Recipe contributor is not a mutually exclusive role -- it can be any of the above roles! Whether you're an artist that comes with their own recipe, or you're a writer ready to write all about yours, we will need enough recipes to go around.We'd love if these recipes will came from contributors' home lives, as we’d like to have recipes that represent multiple real-life cultures. We know it’s a lot to ask to get Grandma to give up her special recipe, though, so as long as the recipe is not directly pulled from an existing cookbook or blog (or AI generated), it’s all good!We ask that recipe contributors are able to write out their recipe, its yield, cook and prep time, and any other factors going into the recipe such as suitable replacements. We also ask that the recipe writer be able to provide an image of the finished product for the artist, preferably taken by the recipe writer themself.Page artists would:
- Create an illustration featuring Mass Effect characters somehow interacting with a recipe/food (e.g., sharing it as a meal, giving it as a gift to another character, shopping for ingredients, cooking it)
- We would like to cover as many canon characters as possible, and for this reason, we will not accept Original Shepards, instead sparingly using default Jane and John Shepard.
-Each illustration is an A5 two-page spread, with the recipe prominently featured on one page, and the characters on the other. Ideally, the background would span both pages, creating a cohesive image.Writers would:
- Be willing to work with an artist to come up with roughly 75 words to creatively introduce a recipe and the characters involved, and, depending on interest, potentially a 1,500 word fic expanding on it. This fic would ideally correspond with the illustration, but at the very least, has to correspond to the character and recipe.
- So, in the example above, the fic could be Shepard’s roommate teaching them the recipe, or Shepard sharing the cookies with Liara, etc.

Will guide merch artists on guidelines of production specifications, and help out with any stylistic choices.

Responsible for posting on social media. Posts include, but aren't limited to: spotlights, events and hype posts, answers to any questions we receive.
